Philippines — As Filipino homebuyers become more selective and housing demand continues to expand into emerging growth areas, industry stakeholders will gather this September to examine the trends shaping the future of Philippine housing.
The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) will hold its 34th National Developers Convention on September 16–17, 2026, at Marquis Events Place, BGC, Taguig City, Metro Manila.
Themed “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations,” the convention will bring together developers, policymakers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders for discussions on market behavior, regulatory developments, and innovations in housing development.
“The housing sector has never operated in a vacuum. Regulations shift, market conditions change, and developers have to keep up. That’s exactly what the convention is for. We come together, we share what we know, and we figure out the next steps as an industry,” said Engr. Francis Richmond Villegas, SHDA Chairman of the Board.
Among the major developments affecting the sector is the continued growth of residential demand outside Metro Manila. Infrastructure improvements are helping open emerging markets, while first-time buyers and young families are driving demand for economic and affordable housing.
Suburban townships are likewise becoming increasingly relevant as more homebuyers look beyond established urban centers.
However, the market is also becoming more selective, requiring developers to better understand household needs and purchasing behavior. At the same time, policy developments continue to influence how projects are planned and implemented.
Recent adjustments, including updated socialized housing price ceilings, highlight the importance of keeping pace with regulatory changes.
“Change in the housing industry is constant, but our mission has never wavered,” said Mr. Kerwin Padua, SHDA National President. “At the end of the day, everything we do is for Filipino families who want a home they can call their own. The landscape keeps shifting, but the goal of homeownership will stay.”
According to Padua, the convention will provide SHDA members, affiliates, and partners with opportunities to better understand current market behavior and demand, helping developers respond with affordable homes suited to Filipino families.
The two-day program will feature sessions covering regulatory updates, household composition, homebuyer trends, and strategic housing innovations.
